Colorado Marathon ~ Fort Collins

The 11th annual Colorado Marathon will be held on May 6, 2012, featuring a 5K, 10K, half marathon and a Boston Marathon qualifying full marathon! A great way to enjoy running and the amazing Poudre Canyon. All races conclude in picturesque Old Town Square in Downtown Fort Collins.

Race Information & Details:
Country Financial’s Colorado Marathon, Cornerstone Mortgage Company Half-Marathon, Rio Grande 10K, PDS Xerox 5K and Kids Run will take place on May 5, 2012. The Colorado Marathon, a Boston qualifier, is the fastest and most popular marathon in Colorado. Please visit each race link above for specific race details and fees associated with each event.

Historic Homes Tour ~ Loveland

A self-guided tour of 6 historic homes of Loveland. Also included will be the Mariano Medina Family Cemetery. Tickets will be available at Anthology Books (442 E. 4th); City News (534 N. Cleveland); and at the Loveland Museum/Gallery (5th & Lincoln). Tickets will also be available at each of the properties the day of the event, plus directions to the cemetery. The Great Loveland Potato Hoax ~ Loveland

Moon Theatre Company will present the World Premier of “The Great Loveland Potato Hoax,” written by local playwright Rick Padden, at the Rialto Theater May 18, 19, 25 & 26 (7:30 p.m.) and May 20 & 27 (2 p.m.). The play is based on the true story of worldwide attention garnered by the faked 1894 photo of a Loveland potato farmer holding an impossibly huge 86-pound potato. Tickets: $14 adults, $13 seniors and students.


Bike Tour of Loveland’s Historic Sites ~ Loveland

Location: Start at Timberlane Farm
Cost: $7 per person

Join us for a bike ride to three of Loveland’s historic sites. The tour will begin at Timberlane Farm where farm staff will present the past and present significance of the farm. Next, the Loveland Historical Society will guide us through a verbal history of the Milner-Schwarz Farmhouse and on to burial site of Mariano Medina, said to be Loveland’s first settler. The ride will end at the Mariana Butte Golf Course. LHS will provide snacks, riders should bring their own water. Helmets are mandatory and participants will be required to sign a release form. Taste of Home Cooking School ~ Greeley

Expo begins in lobby at 4:00 pm. Visit with vendors and receive free food samples, coupons and more!

The Cooking School begins at 7:00 pm in Monfort Concert Hall. The event will last 2 – 2/12 hours with an intermission.

Tickets available beginning March 21.
First floor: $18
Second floor: $15
Seating is reserved.
Everyone who enters must have a ticket. This event is not recommended for babies and small children.

The general seating is $18 but there are a limited number of VIP packages available. The VIP packages include a meet & greet with the Culinary Specialist in the hospitality area, an autographed Taste of Home cook book and a premium gift bag. Each VIP package is valued at $80 but available for only $55. VIP seating is exclusively available by contacting the Ticket Office directly at 970-356-5000.


Greeley Farmers’ Market Opening Day ~ Greeley

The Greeley Farmers’ Market opens Saturday, May 19th at the downtown historic Union Pacific Depot, 902 7th Avenue. The market will be open on Saturdays through October 27th from 7:30 a.m. to noon and also on Wednesdays beginning July 11th through September 26th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

The Market offers fresh fruits and vegetables along with a variety of specialty foods and local crafts. Our selection is based on participating vendors and the time of year, but may include anything from apples to zucchini or fresh flowers and potted herbs along with beef, fresh bread and local hand crafts. There may also be vendors with hot coffee, breakfast burritos, pastries and more ready to eat at the market or take home. Each week can be a new shopping experience!

Watch for news about special events at the market such as recipe demonstrations, entertainment, and more. Plan a visit to the Greeley Freight Station Museum right next door. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss. Check out their webpage at http://www.gfsm.org for more information.

Community Bicycle Rodeo ~ Windsor

The Poudre River Trail-Athlon ~ Windsor

The Poudre Trail-athlon is a ‘Triathlon with a twist’. Participants take part in as many of the 9 event stations as they like in a self-paced morning of fun. From activities that will get the heart pumping such as the bike ride and fun run, to more relaxed activities like bird watching and chalk art, there is something for everyone!

Participants who complete at least 3 events receive a goodie bag and an event t-shirt! Along with that refreshments, entertainment and some games of chance are available to everyone who comes! Best of all – IT’S FREE!! The event will be held in May every year at the Poudre Learning Center and we can’t wait to build on the success in 2012!


Pelican Fest Triathlon ~ Windsor

Location: Swim start Boardwalk Park

Swim: Beach start in Boardwalk Park at 8am. This is a point to point (E-W) swim ending at the parking area adjacent to Windsor Lake on CO 257. Swimmers will exit the water and transition to their bikes. Best of all, the sun will be at your back.

Bike: From the bike transition area head north on 257 to CR 74. Head east on CR 74 to CR 21. Go south on CR 21 to CO 392. Turn west to Chimney Park Dr. Turn right. At the end of CP Dr. turn left onto the Windsor Lake trail. Go west to 6th St. north side of RR tracks and turn right. Turn left on Cedar St. and Right on 257 returning to the bike transition. (If you ride the course prior to the race you must obey ALL traffic laws).

Run: The run exits the transition area on the north east side. Go left and follow the Windsor Lake trail around the north side of the lake. Turn around at Chimney Park Dr. and take the trail all the way back to the swim start. The finish line will be in Boardwalk Park.
